17 weeks

57 Comments Uncategorized
This afternoon I received a few skin care products that I purchased via HauteLook  for babies and kids last week. Being a soon to be “new” Mommy, I have spent countless of hours browsing through the internet for safe and organic products to use on my baby. I came across “Episencial” which I tested on my skin and  completely won my approval. I’m definitely going to buy another set for my sister Ivette to use on my niece. The last thing I want is for harmful ingredients to penetrate the gentle and delicate skin of my baby which is why I love the fact that its free from additives, parabens, and petroleum.  Plus if you like the product yourself, you can use it too. :) I think I’m going to give the protective face balm for cold and dry Winter days a chance.
Anyway, so last night I entered my 5th lunar month (17 weeks)  and I am already feeling huge. I haven’t gained much weight (I’m up to 7 lbs now) and all the weight is in my mid section.  Thank goodness the women in my family are rare to stretch marks (since they are hereditary) and I have not had any issues with that. (Not saying they will never appear).
I am now to the point were I look pregnant (in some clothes) and it is making the clothes in my closet fit awkward and no longer normal. So a few days ago I went into “a pea in a pod” (the only maternity store I like so far) and found some really cute tops and dresses. I can’t wait until I’m at least 6 months to start shopping there. I remember I was so anti-maternity stores before but look who’s talking now. LOL.
Also check out this lovely blog I found a while ago that shows how stylish a pregnant woman can look, a very enjoyable blog. Island Chic

As far as stretch marks go i got 3 little tiny marks on one side of my belly and thats it. But i gained 40lbs not 7!!! At 5 months i was tiny too but then i exploded and got really big. Good luck with your pregnancy and just know you can't protect you child from EVERYTHING! if things are so horrible then all babies would have issues.

So excited for you and your baby. On the subject of stretch marks some of my friends have had a lot of success using cocoa butter on their tummy and sides. Keeps the skin moist and helps prevent stretch marks. Good luck.

awww, Dulce, I love how dedicated you are! You are quite lucky to not have stretch marks run in the family, I've had em since I was 15 and I was 85 pounds then, haha. I pray your pregnancy continues safely and blessed!

  10. hELLO_gORGEOUS says:

I love how they used "the hungry caterpillar" xD its so cute! You should post a new pic of your belly! Idk if you've said if the baby is a boy or girl just yet but i cant wait to find out!

  11. Daisy says:

Hi Dulce! Good thing you did buy safe products. I've been trying to do the same these past months. I actually wrote a post today on safe products. I'm hoping a lot of people that read your blog start buying sfae prodcuts. Because a lot of ingredients are very toxic for our bodies. Take care chica!

Another great, affordable line for maternity clothes is the Liz Lange for Target line. And I think Heidi Klum has a line for Pea in the Pod, no? There are so many options nowadays for expecting moms.

  14. L says:

Hey Dulce! I was really curious about the link to Island Chic that you posted so I clicked it to see what it was about. It kinda struck me that the girl was always wearing high heals. That can be really bad for your spine. It;s already under extra pressure trying to sustain the weight of the baby, you really shouldn't make it work even more trying to support the heals. I know that ballet flats don't always look as fancy as heals, but when you're pregnant health is crucial.

  15. Priscilla Perez says:

stretch marks… I have ZERO!!! I used the Clarins Hulie tonic along with their stretch mark control cream…. I recommend it… a bit pricey but totally worth it :)

  16. mylyntm says:

but my mom doesn't have stretch marks too think its hereditary…

  20. SweetChicDiva says:

I didn't get stretch marks during my pregnacy because I would use cocoa butter on my tummy and my sides twice a day. I used alot of it and I don't have not one strech mark and every other woman in my family has them.

  31. Tania says:

    Hey Dulce!

First of all, I'm very happy for you and your baby!

However, you said stretch marks are not hereditary. There is a genetic component, simply because you inherit certain things from your parents, but it doesn't mean that whatever happened to the other women in your family will happen to you.

Stretch marks appear when your skin is stretched too far out and "breaks". All you can do to avoid them is improve your skin's elasticity. That's your best bet! Biotherm has a really good cream for that and cocoa butter is supposed to work as well!

    Love,

    Xoxoxo

I told her to use palmers and now you can't almost see the marks. Shedidn't belive me at first , now she's so happy!

I am wondering about why my comment is removed. I said stretch marks are not heriditary all the time and even body builders get them from their skin stretching. I also said that you might not see anything right now at 4 months but many women get them in the last month. So what is so wrong in what I said that you had to remove it? Somebody else said the same thing. Actually more than one person. I still see their comments.

Another thing to avoid while you're pregnant and your belly is all stretched out is not to scratch your belly. I did it while I was pregnant and since my nails were long it created a stretch mark on my belly :-(

You know what parabens are for right. The keep bacteria from growing in your products. If The products don't have this protection and you put something stale on your baby then I would really worry. Especially since it's still gonna be a while before you have your baby. Your products are gonna be there for a while. Store them carefully.

Sorry, but I've lost all respect for you. I think you're a great makeup artist and I looked for your advice. But, no 23 year old should have been TRYING To get pregnant with her BOYFRIEND… I know this is MY opinion, but its disgusting and shameful. Seems like you're parading it around like it's no big deal. I'm in my early twenties and I just find it appalling and NOT a good role model for your younger crowd. This isn't a message that you should want floating around.. take some advice from Kandee the makeup artist. Best wishes.
